Sibley East Preschool Screening

Where: Sibley East Elementary, Gaylord
When: TBD

Preschool screening is a free service of the Sibley East Public Schools and is required by the State of Minnesota of all students at least 30 days prior to the start of entering a public school kindergarten; however, the service is available to all children, whether or not the family chooses a public school program.

Many local families participate in preschool screening beginning as early as age 3.  Early detection of conditions is always well advised.  Screenings are available for 3, 4, and 5 year olds.

Detailed information on the State of Minnesota’s preschool requirements is found here: http://education.state.mn.us/MDE/fam/elsprog/screen/

At our preschool screening, which is designed to be a pleasant experience for the child and family, your child will be screened for the following:

  • Vision
  • Hearing
  • Height
  • Weight
  • Physical Development
  • Emotional Readiness

At the conclusion of the screening the school district nurse, Heidi Sjogren, R.N., will meet with the family to discuss the screening results.  She will provide recommendations regarding any conditions that may need remediation prior to the start of school.

Amy Sell will also be available after the health summary to meet with the family to discuss the developmental results for your child and answer any questions you may have regarding the Sibley East Readiness (preschool) program.
