Welcome to the science department at Sibley East Jr. High which is shared with Mr. Tom Noack.

My name is Greg Elseth and I am the 7th grade Life Science teacher and share the 8th grade Earth Science course load with Mr. Noack.

I graduated from Bemidji State University with a Life Science Major and an Earth Science Minor and coaching certificate for grades 7-12. I am currently working towards earning a Masters of Science in Science at Bemidji State University. I have been teaching students Life Science and Earth Science here at Sibley East since 1995. Prior to coming to Sibley East, I taught at Harlingen High School in Harlingen, Texas for four years. The courses I taught there were Physical Science, Marine Biology, Pre AP Biology, and General Biology. I hold lifetime teaching certificates in the areas of Biology, Physical Science and Earth Science grades 6-12 for Texas. In Minnesota my certification is for General Science grades 5-8, Earth Science grades 9-12, and Life Science/Biology grades 7-12.

I enjoy teaching students the intricacies as well as the elementary aspects of our natural world. There is plenty of beauty around us to enjoy and learn about. It is my hope that students will gain an understanding of and an appreciation for the natural world as well as develop skills necessary to do science. My students should find their study both helpfully challenging and rewarding. My philosophy is: every day lends us another opportunity to learn something new. We need to take the time, put forth the energy, and be perceptive enough to capture it.

During my personal time I enjoy spending time with my family and friends as well as spending some time in the great outdoors.
