Gretchen Jones, Pre-K

I am Gretchen Jones. I am a mother to six, ranging in ages from three to thirteen.  I am super busy but have been looking for that one thing to keep me involved with the kids at school yet keep me from losing myself haha! I am a bookworm so I read as much as I can in my spare time, which sometimes can get really late at night with school sports and activities. A cool fact about our family is that we took a trip to Oregon this summer. We flew from Minneapolis to Seattle and got to stay with my mom and her husband for a week.  We got to do some really cool things that you can't do in Minnesota, like swimming in the ocean and going crab fishing. My favorite place to visit in Minnesota is the Vince Shute Wildlife Sanctuary. We have been there about three times and I am hoping we can start making that our annual vacation destination. I also love to quilt and have made a Dr. Seuss Thing 1 and Thing 2 quilt and a Very Hungry Caterpillar quilt.

Erin Evans, K Focus

Hello! My name is Erin Evans and I am one of the Literacy Tutors at Sibley East Schools through Minnesota Reading Corps. My job is to assist students in Kindergarten through 3rd grade to become proficient in reading with the use of evidence-based literacy interventions.

I am a 2010 graduate of Sibley East (Go Wolverines!) and graduated from Concordia College-Moorhead in 2014 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Work. I’m currently working towards my Master’s Degree in Social Work at Augsburg College, so I will be right alongside the students with a year full of classwork and learning:) When not in school, I enjoy being outside, spending time with my close friends and family, and planning a wedding that will happen next fall.

I am excited to get to know your student and see them grow in reading proficiency and confidence this school year!

Lisa Tichenor, K-3

I am Lisa Tichenor and currently a K-3 Literacy Tutor for Reading Corps Minnesota at the Arlington Campus.  After staying home for 15 years, I was re-entering the workforce, and was looking for a good fit that incorporated my interest and skills education, reading, and kids!  Reading Corps was it!

I enjoy my daily interactions and tutor sessions with kids, and seeing them improve their reading skills.  One of my great joys is when they exit our program
.
